'It could happen to anyone': how losing work leads to homelessness
Since moving to Sydney from New Zealand in 1981, Mr Ututaonga was never short of work and enjoyed living in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. He became homeless after losing his security job in 2014.
"I was working most of my life until 2014," he said. "The older you got, they kind of put you out in the paddock.
"I couldn't pay my rent. The reason I ended up on the street was I couldn't pay my debts.
"It could happen to anyone, it's just a stone's throw away."
