Talking 'Share the Pie' at the Emerging Writers Festival
Share the Pie! was on the topic list at the Speakeasy event talking about money as part of the Emerging Writers Festival at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute in Melbourne.
Farah Farouque, who heads Public Affairs and Policy at the Brotherhood of St Laurence, highlighted the realities of life on Newstart — living on as little as $38.98 a day, a rate that is $177 below the poverty line and has not been increased in real terms for over 20 years.
A thank you to The Emerging Writers Festival, in partnership with the Wheeler Centre, for hosting the event.
